The Importance of Self-care
On Saturdays, when she isn’t too busy – my mother grabs her foot spa and all her goodies and gives herself a pedicure. At first, I didn’t understand why she would do this so often. My mum has great feet. But then I stopped to consider maybe there was more to it than just making sure her feet were in great condition. She said to me that this was her me time after a busy week. That’s when I realized the importance of self-care.
I have easily worked out the Three levels of self-care, and I am happy to share this post with you in collaboration with Carley Studios in Port Elizabeth.
THREE WAYS TO SELF-CARE
- AT HOME SELF CARE
This involved heading to the store grabbing your favourite sheet mask and your favourite drink. You could say this is the affordable, quick option and something you could easily do once a week for about 30 minutes to an hour. This will reset you for a new week and have you feeling refreshed- all in the comfort of your home.
2. QUICK STOP TO THE SALON
This would require a bit more effort. Book yourself in at your favourite salon for a quick mani or pedi or a blowout or new hair cut. What I usually do is get my brows shaped and waxed. This is an instant lift to my face and my spirit. What is great about this quick stop to the salon? It doesn’t take up too much time and its a good self-care moment.
3. A TWO HOUR TIME OUT
I know what you are thinking – who has two hours to spend at spa or salon? Well, I think you do. This is the time you take out to get those 30 minute massages, full deluxe manicures and pedicures. These are treatments that I highly recommend you get every 4 or 6 months. This is self-care at its bests.
My self-care experience
This past weekend I went over to Carley Studios for a deluxe pedicure, and I felt amazing afterwards. Since having the baby, at home care has been my go to. While she takes her 2-hour naps, that’s all the time I have. My time at Carley Studios was such a treat that I needed to share how important it is to take the time out to care for yourself, pamper your self and unwind from the hustle and bustle of life.
My time there gave me a chance to chat with the amazing staff who took such great care of me. I got to unwind and unpack. There is just something about getting a good foot massage and chatting to a new person that makes one feel really relaxed.
They did a deluxe pedicure on me which consists of foot soak, scrub, exfoliation and massage. I had the option do getting gel on my nails which turned out amazing.
